Sizhou Hot Spring

The project is envisioned as a hot spring town integrating wellness, resort living, and tourism distribution functions. Guided by an ecological-first approach, the master plan establishes a branching green network as the primary spatial framework, interwoven with meandering thermal river channels to create a layered system of pedestrian-oriented circulation and water-based slow mobility, ensuring effective separation between vehicles and people while enhancing immersive landscape experiences.

At the cultural level, the design adopts a “Six Constellations” strategy, translating local folklore and intangible heritage into tangible architectural anchors—such as academies, ceremonial platforms, and museums—allowing abstract cultural narratives to be embedded within everyday spatial encounters. In terms of settlement organization, the proposal reinterprets the concentric logic of traditional villages to form “Eight Blessings” residential clusters and a complementary “Nine Formations” commercial system, generating a porous, human-scaled fabric of clustered spaces with varied density.

From an operational perspective, two all-season programmatic engines—Forest Thermal Sea for winter and Spirit Bay Water World for summer—work in synergy to sustain year-round tourism vitality. The scheme maximizes the value of the site’s high-yield, medically beneficial metasilicic fluorine hot springs, while its modular, multi-cluster layout enables phased development in response to investment conditions, effectively mitigating financial risk. Adhering to an ecological priority principle, building heights remain below the natural ridgeline, and existing traditional villages are carefully conserved and adaptively reused. Overall, the design functions like a “green beehive” embedded within the mountain and water landscape—precisely weaving together historical fragments while allowing contemporary wellness lifestyles to grow freely within the natural matrix.
