This proposal seeks to create an elegant waterfront residence that combines modern spatial quality with Southern living traditions. The design methodology focuses on the modern reinterpretation of traditional residential elements and a landscape-oriented spatial system. Through analysis of local Southern houses, key symbols such as the fireplace, entrance colonnade, and pitched roofs are abstracted and reinterpreted using a parallel spatial order and formal metaphors, in which mono-pitched roofs act as “lenses” framing the landscape and expressing a contemporary architectural character.
The design emphasizes “embracing the landscape.” Responding to the site’s gentle slope, a three-level stilted configuration facing the water is combined with terraces and a private dock, allowing daily life to unfold toward the scenery. Modern materials—including metal roofing, brick façades, and yellow skylights—balance quality, identity, and cost control, achieving a refined integration of ritual, dwelling, and nature.
