Qiannan Mountain Fire and Emergency Rescue Training Center

The project is located in the karst mountain region of southeastern Guizhou, with a maximum site elevation difference of 20 meters. It is surrounded by continuous green peaks, bordered by a river to the east, and shaped irregularly due to the mountain slopes on the west. Although relatively isolated in geography, the complex sits between the old town and nearby villages, serving as a key hub within the local populated area.

The master plan is organized around two intersecting grid systems that respond to the terrain. The southern cluster, aligned parallel to the river, contains the main fire station, command center, training hall, and dormitory for 160 trainees. The northern cluster houses offices and training facilities. The two groups are connected through a landscape system, external roads, and pedestrian pathways, drawing inspiration from the spatial organization of traditional mountain villages.

Each building within the complex adopts a simple rectangular form that follows the site’s topography. The arrangement not only fulfills all functional needs but also creates pleasant courtyard spaces between structures. The juxtaposition of red and white tones defines the project’s visual identity: red brick expresses the strength and character of the fire station, while white horizontal bands establish harmony with the surrounding mountainous landscape.

As the core structure, the fire station is strategically positioned at the entrance road, serving as both a functional and symbolic gateway to the complex. The ground floor accommodates the fire truck garage and equipment storage, while the mezzanine hosts the training corridor and meeting rooms. The second floor includes dormitories, recreation areas, a library, study rooms, and medical and psychological consultation spaces. Skylights and twin courtyards bring natural light and ventilation into the interior, creating a dynamic, human-centered environment for both work and daily life.
