At the invitation of the organizers of the China France Urban and Architectural Forum, architect Wei Haobo, the host of the West Line Studio, will go to Kunming on July 3 to have interactive discussions with French representative Jean Fran ç ois Milou, founder of the famous studio Milou, on the theme of renovating historical or industrial architectural heritage. What kind of sparks will collide from this dialogue of soul and thought?

The Sino French Forum on Cities and Architecture is an annual series of lectures on "Architecture in Action" organized by the French Embassy in China, dedicated to exploring issues related to architecture and urban planning. Each event invites one of the most influential French and Chinese experts in the field of urban planning or architecture for a dialogue and exchange, followed by a discussion with the audience.

Wei Haobo, Design Director of Guiyang Architectural Survey and Design Co., Ltd., Chief Architect of West Line Studio, Expert of State Council Government Special Allowance, Youth Architect Award of the 8th China Architectural Society, Senior Member of China Architectural Society, Honorary Member of Royal Society of British Architects, Professor level Senior Architect, and Part time Professor of Guizhou University. The work has won various international, domestic, and provincial awards, including the ArchDaily China Architecture Champion of the Year in 2017; In 2013, won the only gold award of China Architecture Design Award (Rural Architecture); Won the Silver Award of China Architecture Design Award (Architectural Creation) in 2013; In 2013, participated in the Urban Edge: 2013 Shenzhen Hong Kong City/Architecture Biennale; In 2012, he won the Double Gold Award for Architecture and Planning in the National Classic Residential Architecture Planning and Design Competition; In 2004, the Royal Institute of British Architects' "DIVERSECITY" global touring exhibition of architectural design works was shortlisted and the works were permanently collected; In 1997, he won fifth place in the American Institute of Architects' "AFFORDING HOUSING" international architectural competition; Double Silver Award at the 3rd China Weihai International Architectural Design Competition in 2006; In 2015, it won the Double Gold Award for Architecture and Planning in the National Classic Residential Architecture Planning and Design Competition.

Mr. Jean Fran ç ois Milou is the founder of studioMilou. He became a member of the French Institute of Architects in 1979 and the Singapore Council of Architects in 2008.  

He is responsible for the offices in Paris and Singapore, with a core focus on large-scale cultural or urban projects that incorporate existing historical or industrial heritage for reuse. In recent years, the renovation projects of the Paris Temple Market and the National Gallery of Singapore have gained widespread recognition from the public and media, and have won numerous awards. Jean Fran ç ois Milu is also an expert at UNESCO and has undertaken multiple technical tasks for the World Heritage Centre in Europe and Asia.
